AAR Holds Career Fair in Fort Worth to Tap Experienced Aircraft Mechanics

Aerospace leader has 200 immediate openings across the country

FORT WORTH, Texas – As Washington prepares to honor the men and women who fix and maintain airplanes, aerospace industry leader AAR (NYSE:AIR) continues its nationwide recruitment of licensed aircraft mechanics and inspectors with a career fair Wednesday in Fort Worth. With 200 immediate openings, AAR hopes to start conversations with skilled aircraft maintenance technicians (AMTs) interested in joining its nationwide network of aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) stations.

The fair will be held from noon to 6 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn Fort Worth Alliance Airport, 2600 Westport Pkwy. It comes two days before National AMT Day on Friday, May 24, recognized by a U.S. House resolution honoring Charles Edward Taylor, the man who built the 12-horsepower engine that powered the Wright Brothers’ first flying machine.

AAR has job opportunities in the five facilities that comprise its 1MRO service delivery network, which integrates technology with maintenance and engineering protocols. Veterans are encouraged to attend the career fair. AAR has extended an invitation to nearby Tarrant County College, where 30 percent of those enrolled in the aircraft maintenance program are veterans. Twenty percent of AAR’s workforce is made up of veterans.

“What better way to honor maintenance professionals who are crucial to the safety and security of our civil and military aircraft than providing an opportunity for good-paying jobs,” said Greg Dellinger, AAR’s Director of Recruiting.

Attendees will have an opportunity to learn about AAR, voted the Best Airframe MRO Provider — The Americas in 2012 and ranked the No. 5 MRO in the world in a survey of 11,000 airline executives and industry professionals. Participants, especially those affected by recent workforce reductions in the area, can also take advantage of some critical career guidance and industry search tips.

“While AAR is looking to hire as many qualified mechanics as we can, the Company remains committed to ensuring the aviation and aerospace industry develops and maintains a consistent pipeline of qualified talent,” Dellinger said. “The many men and women furloughed from the closure of the American Airlines maintenance base at Alliance Airport or those who took early retirement certainly fit that bill.”

AAR’s maintenance facilities are located in Duluth, Minnesota; Indianapolis; Miami; Oklahoma City and Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Those unable to attend the career fair can email their resume to roger.carter@aarcorp.com or fax to 405-218-3611.
