AAR celebrates reimagined Design Hangar at National Air and Space Museum
The AAR Design Hangar at Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., reopened to visitors in summer 2026.
Wood Dale, Illinois — AAR CORP., the leading parts, repair, and software platform in the aviation aftermarket, celebrated the reopening of the AAR Design Hangar in Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., following a multi-year renovation.
Located in the TEXTRON How Things Fly gallery, known as the most interactive and hands-on exhibition at the museum, the AAR Design Hangar encourages visitors to sharpen their engineering design skills. Using scientific methods and problem-solving skills, visitors identify solutions to potential air and space challenges.
“AAR has proudly sponsored an engaging design experience at the National Air and Space Museum since 2013. The new, reimagined Design Hangar is our latest STEM-focused educational outreach initiative,” said Tom Hoferer, AAR’s Senior Vice President of Repair & Engineering. “We are excited to inspire the next generation of air and space professionals.”
