AAR Extends Recruiting for Aircraft Mechanics to Twin Cities
Candidates sought for 70 positions in Duluth, MN, at job fair
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – AAR (NYSE: AIR) has job openings for 70 aircraft mechanics at its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) station in Duluth and is expanding recruitment to the Twin Cities with a job fair on January 23.
From 1 to 7 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel Bloomington by Mall of America, 1700 American Blvd., Bloomington, AAR recruiters will be accepting applications for good-paying jobs that require industry specialization and certification but not a four-year college degree. AAR has created more than 100 jobs since opening the Duluth MRO in November. At capacity, the facility could create up to 225 jobs.
“We’re taking a deeper dive across the state to find people with the requisite skills and aptitude to fill these highly skilled positions,” said Dany Kleiman, AAR’s Aviation Services Group Vice President – Repair and Engineering. “Careers in aviation are critical to supporting our regional, national and global economy, as well as air travel in the U.S. and abroad.”
As the nation’s unemployment rate hovers at 7.8 percent, 10.8 percent for military veterans, growth at midsized companies such as AAR is putting people back to work. Today, less than half of Americans between ages 25 and 34 earn four-year college degrees, according to the Wall Street Journal. One-fourth of men with only a high school degree don't have jobs. http://www.nationaljournal.com/next-economy/the-no-good-very-bad-outlook-for-the-working-class-american-man-20121205.
This month, AAR launched aggressive recruitment nationwide to staff up the five aircraft repair stations that comprise its 1MRO™ service delivery network. The Company is particularly interested in hiring military veterans, which make up 20 percent of its workforce.
