WOOD DALE, ILLINOIS, (April 23, 2002) - AAR (NYSE: AIR) announced today the appointment of Pete Compton as General Manager of AAR Cargo Systems located in Livonia, Michigan. AAR Cargo Systems specializes in the design and manufacture of aircraft cargo loading systems.

Mr. Compton began his aviation career over 35 years ago with United Airlines, and in 1970 joined AAR as Regional Sales Manager for air cargo products. Prior to his appointment as General Manager for AAR Cargo Systems, Mr. Compton served as Vice President of Sales & Marketing where he has expanded AAR's markets for both OEM cargo products as well as freighter conversion programs. In his new role as General Manager, Mr. Compton will provide the leadership, product knowledge, and dedicated customer service needed to expand the cargo systems market, as well as focus upon the development of new capabilities and product offerings.
