AAR SHARES IN THE 2010 SECRETARY OF DEFENSE PERFORMANCE-BASED LOGISTICS AWARD

Recognized as Part of Team Providing Supply Chain Management for U.S. Navy Helicopter Components

WOOD DALE, ILLINOIS (January 13, 2010) — AAR (NYSE:AIR) today announced that its Defense Systems and Logistics division was recognized as part of a team that earned the Department of Defense’s 2010 Secretary of Defense Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) Award.

The award was presented to the public/private team of AAR, Hamilton Sundstrand and the U.S. Navy Fleet Readiness Center-East by the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics. The distinction recognizes exceptional component-level supply chain support for U.S. Navy H-46 Sea Night and H-53 Sea Stallion helicopter power equipment.

“AAR is honored to be recognized by the Department of Defense along with our program partners for our supply chain expertise and performance,” said Mark Stearns, President of AAR Defense Systems and Logistics. “The PBL award is a testament to the effectiveness of strong public/private partnerships in providing our nation’s war fighters with operational capability and readiness in a budget-constrained environment.”

Performance-based Logistics is the Department of Defense’s strategic initiative to improve weapon systems readiness by obtaining life-cycle product support of weapons systems, sub-systems and components as an integrated program based on a number of output measures. AAR’s just-in-time delivery of Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) cores and parts kits resulted in zero backorders and 97 percent on-time delivery over the last six years. The AAR team is located in Havelock, NC, just outside of Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point.

AAR Defense Systems & Logistics provides comprehensive supply chain management services to the U.S. Government and its allies and to OEMs that support military aerospace programs. AAR’s services cover the entire supply chain from forecasting, procurement and warehousing to distribution, repair management and overall program management.

AAR’s current logistics programs range from fixed and rotary-wing aircraft to ground vehicles and infra-red missile sensors. AAR’s support is backed by an industry-leading IT capability that enables seamless integration of suppliers and customers’ business systems.
